    Quick Guide

  • Uploading files

After logging in with your myanywhere id you will be presented with a menu. The first item is 'access your myanywhere account files'. Click on this item.

Your initial folder is called "My Documents". Next to it are two icons. The first is the upload icon. It looks like this . When you click on this icon you will be presented with the upload file window where you can select up to 5 files to upload from your pc.

  • Creating folders

Next to the upload icon is the update icon. It looks like this . When you click on this icon you will see the update window. From this window you can create, rename and delete folders.

You can also manage the contents of the folders.

  • Downloading a file

After you've upload a file or a collection of files you will see them listed as hyper-links. From any browser you can click on each file have the browser download them.

  • Sharing with copy link

When you are in the update folder window you will see a button called copy link. This button allows you to email a link to a file to a friend.

For example, you've create a folder with a few music mp3 files. You want your friend to be able to access one of them.

    upgrade

Click on the update icon and then select the file in the contents list. Click on the copy link button next and see that a url was created in the bottom window. If you copy this url out of the window you can then paste it into an email message.

This url when received by your friend will with a click allow them to download your file.

  • Sharing folders

Copy link works on one file at a time. At some point you'll want to share an entire folder. This is possible with the share icon . this icon is not visible for the My Documents folder by design. You need to create folders to share and can not share your 'root' folder.

After creating a folder click on the share icon and you will see the share folder window.

The share folder window enables you to create access lists and attach them to your folders. An access list is a list of one or more friend's myanywhere ids. And access list attached to one of your folders tells the myanywhere system to allow those friends to 'see' your folder from their myanywhere account.

When your friend logs into their myanywhere account in addition to their documents will see your folder as if it was theirs. They will be able to click on the hyper-links to your files and download them. You've allowed them through the access list you created.

To share a folder do the following

    1. Create a folder
    2. Click on the share icon
    3. Create an access list by clicking on new...
    4. Enter a name for the list
    5. Select the list from the list box
    6. Click on update...
    7. Click on new... to add your friend to the list
    8. Enter your friends myanywhere account id
    9. Back in the share folder dialog select your access list
    10. Click on share

Now, the next time your friend logs in they will see your folder.
